How to Get Started with Mushroom Tinctures
Sometimes our customers need a little advice about how to begin their mushroom tincture regimen. For those of you new to functional mushrooms, we’ve put together some guidelines for getting started. You are also welcome to reach out to us at support@druzyfusion.com for questions or assistance. We love to hear from our customers about their journey with functional mushrooms!
Consult your physician…
This isn’t just a disclaimer. Any time you add new supplements to your diet, it’s very important to discuss this with your physician, particularly if you take prescription medications or have chronic conditions. Functional mushrooms and herbal tinctures have bioactive compounds that may affect how some medications work*.
Your experience is unique, so is your gut biome…
If you are unaccustomed to eating mushrooms regularly, it may take a few days, sometimes up to a week, for your body to adapt. We recommend you start slowly, following the protocol we outline in the next section. This will give your body and your digestive system time to adjust to the change in nutrients and fibre that you’ll be receiving. Most of our customers do not have any issues starting a mushroom regimen and have had positive experiences starting on our tinctures.
The Druzy Fusion protocol…
The Foundation blend is, quite literally, the foundation of the Druzy Fusion protocol. A concentrated, triple-extracted tincture, the Foundation is designed to help support all the body’s major functions. Further support can be added in targeted areas from our single variety tinctures*.
Our single-variety functional mushroom and herbal tinctures can be used individually, combined, and as boosters to The Foundation blend for additional support, depending upon your health and wellness goals.
We recommend starting slowly with half the recommended dose for the first week. The beta-glucans in mushrooms contain soluble fibre and can act as pre- and probiotics. This could cause some gastro effects like gas, bloating or even diarrhea if your system is unaccustomed.
If you’re tolerating the tincture well, move up to the full dose the second week. If your body is accepting the addition comfortably, the next week you can add an additional tincture variety. We believe it’s a best practice to add one tincture at a time to your regimen -- both to allow your body to adjust and to help ensure each addition is tolerated well.
Most of our customers add the tincture to a little water or put it in their morning beverage like coffee, tea or juice. It can also be taken directly by mouth, but most people find the taste too strong.
If alcohol content is a concern, we suggest putting your dose in a mug and add two or three ounces of boiling water. Let it sit for several minutes, the alcohol will evaporate.
Tinctures can be taken with or without food. Most people prefer to take them first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, but experiment and see what works best for you. Reishi can make some people sleepy. If that is your experience, try taking tinctures containing Reishi in the evenings.
It can take two to three weeks to notice the first effects of the tincture. Most herbal medicines require about 90 days of consistent use to achieve a significant effect. Some people only notice a positive change when they miss a few doses and the issue returns. Pay attention to your body and be patient.
If you are working with a naturopath, functional doctor, or other wellness practitioner, we recommend you defer to their dosing recommendation.
If you are confused about which varieties to take or how to best take it, please don’t hesitate to reach out to support@druzyfusion.com and we will make every effort to help.
